Editor’s Note: I am of course fully aware that I’ve been away from this website for just a little over two months and there are an extremely large number of issues I have to address for my readers; I’m working on a site update notice to go over all of the changes now and the link featured in this post will go a long way towards explaining my recent absence. The extremely short version however is that I have been a little bit depressed, I’m now permanently suspended from Twitter, I’ve migrated most of my online social media presence to Facebook or Mastodon and I’ve opened a new password free Discord Chat for friends who miss talking with me on social media.

Unfortunately as a side effect of losing my audience reach on Twitter, I’ve now been forced to make a decision about how to present my content across multiple platforms and the choice I’ve come to is one I’ve done my best to avoid up to this point – namely cross-posting individual links to content on other websites, here on ninaillingworth.com. I have until now restricted myself to monthly updates out of respect for the numerous readers who already follow me on all of the other sites I write at (Patreon, Media Madness, Can’t You Read and occasionally Facebook) so as to avoid cluttering up their inboxes with duplicated notices for the same content. After discussing the situation recently with several readers however, it has become clear to me that folks are certainly not finding all of my content and I think it’s safe to say that is unlikely to improve without my now defunct (but formerly quite large) Twitter account. For now I’m only going to give “article-length” posts on other sites their own link post here on ninaillingworth.com; I’m still tinkering with how to share interesting threads and article analysis from other social media but I think it would be rather boorish to post a full link here every time I toss off 500 quality words on Facebook.

Today’s link takes a look at my recent battles to get my writing out and offers an explanation for why I’ve been struggling so hard to produce regular content for much of this year – you can check it out by clicking on either the link, or the image below. Readers are advised not to let this lengthy and extremely personal essay’s tone of frustration and fatalism alarm them too much as I have in fact already returned to daily writing at this time, five days later:
