A Brief Thought: Triangle of Destruction

Editor’s Note: well, it certainly has been a week for terrifying news hasn’t it? Between the objectively inhumane Republican “TrumpCare” bill, the newest version of the morally indefensible Muslim Ban & Wikileaks dropping the first part of their long awaited “Vault 7” series of leaks about the CIA; I must shamefully admit that I’ve been running around like a chicken with my head cut off just trying to keep up.

Unfortunately, the mainstream media has apparently also found itself lost in the shuffle because there is one story that’s not getting nearly as much attention as the gravity of the situation would warrant. Is America about to go to war with the DPRK? The answer to that question probably depends almost entirely on what one man decides to do next and frankly, he’s probably the last guy on earth we want in charge of the job:

Note: if you’re having trouble reading the above (somewhat cluttered) meme, just right click on it and select “view this image” to pop out a larger version. As always please feel free to share this image anywhere you like; we’re once again on the brink of war and this time it definitely seems like the possibility has largely escaped the attention of the American public as well as our current proto-fascist government.

Unfortunately, the unfolding diplomatic situation in the region is complicated even further by the apparently shaky status of the North Korean government’s own alliances as well; although it’s often difficult to find unbiased coverage of DRPK leader Kim Jong Un’s motives, it does at least appear that he’s undertaken a vast, multi-year purge of officials who have ties to the Chinese government despite the ostensibly “friendly” relationship between North Korea and China. It is also believed by many that the recent, bizarre assassination of the North Korean leader’s half-brother Kim Jong Nam was at least partially motivated by Nam’s close ties to China (as well as his potential to usurp control from Kim Jong Un) – the fallout from which has lead to North Korean government to temporarily ban all Malaysian (another ostensible DPRK ally) citizens from leaving the country.

In other words; the hardline leader of an openly hostile nation may have just obtained the ability to nuke Japan and he’s now flexing his newfound muscles in a way that might throw diplomatic relations in an already volatile region into open war – a war that will undoubtedly entangle the United States due to it’s ongoing alliances in Asia. Who, pray-tell does America have at the table? A guy they call Mad Dog, a xenophobic lunatic who should have been put out to pasture decades ago and god forbid, Donald fucking Trump.

Don’t expect cooler heads to prevail in the American media either; not when Bloomberg is wargaming an assault on North Korea in articles they know Kim Jong Un will read and Sean Spicer is throwing gas on the fire because it’s the first time he hasn’t had to talk about Russia in months.

As the old timers used to say – smoke em if ya got em kids and may God help us all.
