Editor’s Note: in the months since the 2016 US Presidential election, I have been asked numerous times “when are you going to write an autopsy piece on why Clinton lost?” It’s certainly a fair question because I did indeed tell people that I intended to write one and I’d even begun to out create rough outlines of what arguments such an essay might examine on Twitter.
Unfortunately a death in my little family, a long drawn out move just after Christmas and the sheer chaotic churn of news under a bumbling, proto-fascist administration have conspired to prevent me from actually writing the damn thing and at this point, it seems clear that I’m never going to. Frankly, in light of the fact that most of my worst fears about a Trump government are coming true and the Democratic Party seems content to change absolutely nothing but rather “wait out the storm” – I’m really not sure what purpose such an analysis would serve at this point in time anyway.
There were however two ideas I still wish I had found time to discuss because I genuinely believe they will remain extremely relevant for years, if not decades to come; the Democratic Party’s insistence on blaming literally *anyone* but themselves for blowing the most winnable election in American history and the mind-numbing insanity of doing the same horrible thing over and over again simply because the people who profit most from your behavior, insist you have no other choice:

As always please feel free to share this meme anywhere you like; but don’t hold your breath waiting for it to win hearts and change minds – most mainstream Democrat voters left sanity behind at least nine months ago when they realized Clinton was probably a corrupt, lying criminal and decided to risk it anyway because “it’s her turn.”
PS – actually, yes; Bernie *would* have won.
